APT announces entry deadline for Gottaplay.com Open WQ Maui Tow-In Surfing Championship

Holding Period: January 15, 2007 – March 31, 2007
Location: Pier 1 / North Shore Maui, Hawaii
Minimum Purse $15,000.00
Sanctioned By: APT World tour Tow-In Surfing circuit
APT Tour Prize Money: $90,000.00 Minimum

With almost a full roster of committed tow-in teams ready to battle for one of eight available slots that will permit a winning team to advance to a seeded position in the Mexico and South America events, APT announces that the competitors deadline for the WQE will be January 31, 2007.

This event will be filled with professional and experienced tow-in teams representing many different parts of the world and the U.S. As it stands now, most everyone on the main list for the Bank of Hawaii North Shore Tow-In Event have registered to compete in the Gottaplay.com Open WQ Maui Tow-In Surfing Championship. Joining the list will be other local teams from Hawaii and Oregon’s Ollie Richardson and Dan Hasselschwert who will be competing for the very first time in hopes of great success. Then there’s the defending champion team of Garrett McNamara and Kealii Mamala who won last years North Shore Tow-In Event.

“It has been a very slow season for big tow-in surf here in Hawaii, but it has almost been a blessing for us due to the immense amount of work we have created for ourselves. We are going to hold both Hawaii events so long as mother nature does her thing. At this point we are not going to wait for the biggest swell and we’ll take a solid 18’-20’ Hawaiian scale swell just to get the tour off and running.” Says-Rodney Kilborn, APT Vice President and Sanctioning Director.

Holding Period: January 15, 2006 thru March 31, 2007

Mexico - Puerto Escondido - $25K Purse
'Red Bull El Gigante Viene Tow-In Surfing Championship'
Holding Period: May 1, 2007 thru July 31, 2007

South America - Chile, Iquique - El Bajo Cacho Toro - $25K Purse
'Iquique Chile International Tow-In Surfing Championship'
Holding Period: May 1, 2007 thru July 31, 2007

All interested competitors must first become an APT member to compete in any APT sanctioned event. Please see membership link for information. If you are already a member then all that’s left is sending in your entry form, entry fee and liability form.

All competitors must also have a Hawaii State Tow-In License to compete in an APT sanctioned event being held in Hawaii.
